The Australian Defence Enterprise Learning Environment (ADELE) Learning Management System (LMS) is the platform used to deliver blended and self-paced learning. There is an OPEN, OFFICIAL: Sensitive and PROTECTED instances of ADELE. At ADC, ADELE (O:S) is predominately used.
Login to the system is different depending on whether you have a Defence Identity or whether you are Sponsored for access. Users inside the Defence Protected Network (DPN) are automatically logged in by visiting any ADELE site and clicking the login button.
If you have a Defence Identity in the Defence Protected Network (DPN) including an @defence.gov.au email address and an activated Defence Common Access Card (DCAC), you can login to ADELE immediately without registering.
Navigate to the login page of ADELE
Click on Login with Defence Identity
Enter your @defence.gov.au email to begin
Login with a personal VPN, from an international IP address or from TOR is not permitted.
4. Insert your DCAC or place it on your card reader
5. Click on Use a certificate or smart card to login using your DCAC
If you have setup Microsoft Authenticator as a second factor you can alternatively login using your DPN Password instead of clicking on this link, please have your device ready
Password resets are now done by Defence ICT Support or self-service, call them on 133 272
6. If there are more than one card reader attached to your device then select the correct device (or certificate if shown) and click OK
7. Enter your DCAC pin to to continue
8. Expand the terms of use and click Accept to login to ADELE
Non-Defence accounts are sponsored and users will receive a username and password in their email inbox. Sponsored accounts are treated differently than Defence accounts, with less access to course and profile information and automatic suspension after 30 days of inactivity.
If you have forgotten or lost this password you can reset it at any time by clicking on "Forgotten your username or password?"
Please allow up to 15 minutes to receive a password reset email.
Sponsored accounts must setup Multifactor Authentication (MFA) inside ADELE using a one-time-code authenticator app on their mobile device, or using a hardware security key.
You will have 30 days to set this up before your account is automatically locked and cannot perform any functions until setup is completed.
Read all about MFA requirements for ADELE and get help setting it up below.
2.1 Not receiving your password reset email?
Your account may be suspended if you have not logged in for a long time. Suspended users aren't able to receive emails from the system. If this is the case, please contact support@adele.edu.au
2.2 Password being sent to your fleet domain email instead? (For Defence users)
The Defence Corporate Directory has a troubleshooting guide on email routing. This tool can be used to see if emails to your Defence email address are being sent to the DRN or to the Fleet Domain. If it's the case where your password is being emailed to the Fleet Domain, please email fleet.help@defence.gov.au to have this rectified. The ADELE Support team can still reset your password but will be unable to switch the email re-routing that is in place. ADELE account creation relies on the Defence Corporate Directory details. Ensure these are current.
2.3 How do I revoke my own MFA?
When you are signed into ADELE (O:S), click on your profile name or image at the top right. Go to Preferences. Under user account, click on Multi-factor authentication preferences. Under Active factors, click the Revoke button. You can then setup MFA again by clicking on the Setup App button under Available factors.
Your account may suddenly appear very empty after undergoing a legal name change; this is because a new account is provisioned for your new name. We automatically identify and merge data for these kinds of incidents and if this happens to you please send an email to support@adele.edu.au to notify of the change and we will resolve your data issues.
Yes, all instances: ADELE Open, ADELE (O:S) & ADELE Protected are available whilst connected to the DPN.
Limitations
DPN security restrictions will apply to course content. For example, external, non-whitelisted websites will be blocked (such as YouTube).
Some virtual classrooms (such as Class Collaborate) will also not function if accessed via the DPN as the media apparatus is also blocked due to the DPN security measures. Use of virtual classrooms on the DPN is dependent on an acceptance of the security policy governing their use there.
You can access ADELE Open and ADELE (O:S) on your personal device, with ADELE (O:S) supporting the Moodle Mobile app. All other versions of ADELE cannot be accessed from personal devices or networks.
We recommend that ADELE users connect using Google Chrome, however Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari are all functional with ADELE. Microsoft Internet Explorer is unsupported.
For users connecting to BigBlueButton sessions, we recommend using either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
Please note that while Microsoft Edge is supported, you may experience minor issues while playing video content.
