BYOD Guide
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Guide
Students attending courses at ADC are to Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). Courses are delivered in-location, online and through a blended approach. The below guide will assist you in preparing your device.
Minimum Operating System Requirements
Microsoft Windows Devices
Windows 10 or above only. Windows 7, Vista and XP operating systems are no longer supported. Service pack and general updates to your device should be enabled.
Apple Devices
Mac OSX High Sierra and above is preferred for Mac laptops. iOS version 14 and above is preferred for iPhone.
Please Note: iPads/iPad Pros are not suitable devices to effectively conduct any courses at the ADC.
Android Devices
Android version 4.0 and above is preferred for Android phone and tablet devices.
Device Administration Rights
All students turn their device administrative rights on to ensure any configuration changes required to work with the ADC Wi-Fi network or internet gateway proxy at Weston can be performed.
Software requirements
Web Browser
We recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome as your web browser for the best experience while working and studying at the ADC.
AntiVirus
We recommend that antivirus software is installed on your chosen device/s. Devices that do not have updated AntiVirus software or similar protections are at risk of being compromised and may significantly affect your studies if they become inoperable. The ADC does not provide antivirus software for use on a personal device.
Please note: Australia Defence employees and contractors can request free antivirus for personal devices from CIOG here (DPN accessible only)
Personal Device Security Guide
Device security is important for safeguarding sensitive data and helping to prevent unauthorized access, data breaches, and other threats. Securing devices connected to corporate networks can help mitigate risks posed by remote work, bring your own device (BYOD) policies, and IoT ecosystems.
